Street Outreach Project

Reaching out to the homeless on the streets of Atlanta is an important step in connecting them to housing. By building relationships with these homeless individuals right where they are we are able to many times identify both mental illness as well as long-term substance abuse problems.

The Outreach Project is a unique and cost effective project that consists of a combination of utilizing volunteers and the support of outreach professionals to reach the homeless in Atlanta. AOPI identifies interested groups of volunteers and conducts a training in which the volunteers learn about various topics such as how to engage the homeless, safety tips, resources, and documentation necessary to access services.  Armed with the knowledge and tools necessary to help the homeless, AOPI assigns an area of Atlanta for the volunteers to focus on. The size of the area is based on the number of volunteers. The volunteers then go out to their targeted area, begin to develop relationships with the homeless, and eventually encourage them to accept services.

Please consider making a monetary donation to AOP’s Homelessness Outreach Project. Not only is your donation greatly appreciated, it is also tax deductible.
