Homeless Education and Research Center

The Homeless Education and Research Institute is a unique project that has two parts. The first part is a research institute that enables the agency, volunteers, and community to study issues regarding homelessness such as Identity, Root Causes, Impact of Housing, etc. Information gathered from research will in turn be shared with the community and best practices and methods for ending homelessness will be better understood.

The second part of the project involves outreach training for community members interested in helping the homeless men and women living on the streets. The cost for the training is minimal and goes towards supporting the agency’s continued effort to fight homelessness in Atlanta. Participants will learn about issues surrounding homelessness, engagement strategies, resources, safety, etc. Along with the training, the agency also commits to providing ongoing consultation and professional support volunteers work with the homeless. AOPI can also help the community group locate an area of where homeless individuals are living and help to make initial contact. We believe that this will be a cost effective and impactful way to engage the community and at the same time ensure that the homeless are receiving quality services and the best help possible.

Please consider making a monetary donation to AOP’s Homelessness Education and Research Center. Not only is your donation greatly appreciated, it is also tax deductible.
